Eye Conditions
Conditions that may influence your cataract surgery or IOL choice. Each requires clinical evaluation by an ophthalmologist.
Conditions to be aware of
Astigmatism
Irregular corneal curvature that causes blurred vision at all distances. Toric IOLs can address this during cataract surgery.
Glaucoma
Increased pressure in the eye that damages the optic nerve. May influence IOL choice and surgical approach.
Macular degeneration
Damage to the central retina (macula) that affects detailed vision. Multifocal lenses may be less suitable.
Dry eye
Insufficient tear production or quality that affects vision stability and comfort after surgery.
Corneal disease
Conditions affecting the cornea that may limit the predictability of IOL outcomes.
Previous LASIK / PRK
Prior refractive surgery changes corneal shape, making IOL power calculations more complex.
Retinal conditions
Various retinal issues that may influence IOL choice and visual expectations after surgery.
High myopia
Very nearsighted eyes have different structural characteristics that may affect IOL choice.
